How to crop a photo into a star
- Drop a photo, paste an image or choose a file from your device.
- Drag the photo under the frame. Zoom with the slider, wheel or a pinch, and adjust its orientation if needed.
- Choose the output size and format, check the preview and save your image.
A star has a small central area and five narrow points. Keep faces and important details inside the centre; use the points for background texture. A wider original photo often leaves more room to position the subject without clipping it.
Star-shaped photos for celebrations
Use a star crop for birthday invitations, achievement graphics or photo collages. A coloured outline helps the points stand out. Export a transparent PNG to place the result over a card design, then check it at its intended display size so the subject still reads clearly.
Save as PNG, WebP or JPEG
The file is square even when its cutout is not. PNG keeps the area outside the frame transparent with the fill switched off. WebP can do the same if your browser can write it; otherwise this tool saves PNG. JPEG fills the background with your chosen colour.
Choose 512, 1024 or 2048 pixels for different display sizes. Full keeps the available detail in the cropped area, up to 4096 pixels. Enlarging a small photo cannot recover missing detail. Your image stays in the browser, with no account, advertising or upload.
